Surprisingly Good for Its Price

How good could a sub-$100 drone be? Pretty darned good.

The packaging is adequate, the assembly is able to be completed in 2 minutes, and I had the drone in the air in under 10 minutes, after reading the fairly comprehensive directions. It pretty much does everything a novice drone pilot could want -- it flies easily, it hovers effortlessly, and the videos and pictures are better than decent. I was surprised with all of the options to fly it in the optional Android app -- multiple virtual stick configurations, phone movement detection, flight path drawing, and VR headset mode.

I crashed the drone a couple times in my back yard, but nothing has broken as of yet. It's appreciated at the company provides an extra set of props and screws, should the originals break. I could not imagine a nicer device for the price. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

So far the best beginners drone I've tried

This is my 5th beginners drone, and by far the best I've seen. Its small, light, better battery life in this category and super easy to fly. Most of my other drones were returned due to poor design or poor control. This one passes all tests and surpasses them. Here are a few pros, this one has over most drones.

1. Very responsive, but not over responsive so easy to control.
2. Battery life is lot better.
3. Great wind performance.
4. Dual camera, (this is a huge pros, that I missed in my earlier drones), including all HD cameras.
5. Its very stable by itself, unlike other drones where I had to constantly adjust the joystick to hold position.
6. Its design is very unique with dual layer propeller design.
7. Joystick can be used for flying while phone can be used for photos and video capturing simultaneously.
8. Great looking.

Only I hope that the joystick had a phone holder inbuilt to hold the phone while flying.Overall a very great product.

Great sub-$100 drone

I'm going to split my review in four parts: the software, the hardware, the ease-of-use and the camera quality.

Software: the app to download is SharkSpark. Easily found on the Google Play Store. It asks for storage and location permissions, but that’s understandable. It needs storage access to save the images and videos, and location access to help control and land the drone.
The app is very simple. You can customize how you want to control the drone and what language the app should be in (Chinese or English). I haven't noticed any issue with using the app.

The hardware: the drone itself is made of plastic. It does have rubberized legs that make for a soft landing. In the box, there was included and additional set of blades as well as landing gear. The battery needs to be removed to xcharge with the included charging cable. Removing the battery is not easy, but once you figure out how to, it gets easier. The controller seems simple enough to use. It has all the basic functions of the drone sin individual buttons, like takeoff, landing, etc. It uses 3 AA batteries.

The ease-of-use: There is a bit of learning curve when figuring out how to pilot this. But after about 20 minutes, I got the hang of it. Some functions are automated, like takeoff and landing. The rest is manually controlled. I use the mobile app to set up and record the footwage and the physical remote controller to pilot the drone.

The camera quality: Exceptional for the price. I expected much less, but I was pleasantly surprised. The camera doesn’t do well with sharp turns and twists, but does a good job at recording while flying around. I like that you can pick which camera to use for recording. You can’t switch cameras while recording, but you can record on both cameras at the same time.

The verdict: I’m giving it 5 stars. It has some flaws and some things I can see being improved, but it is far better than any other drone at this price point. I’ve used more expensive drones that are not as good as this one. This is definitely a great buy if you’re looking for a sub-$100 drone.

P.s. check out the video footage attached to this review. Keep in mind that this footage was taken before I figured out how to properly pilot this thing. In the video you can even see it crash into a wall and recover from it without falling to the ground.
